At Blessed Patrick O’Loughran Primary School, we believe that reading helps children develop not only as learners but also as individuals. Through reading, pupils have opportunities to live out our core values of Respect, Kindness, Community, Equality and Faith.

Respect: Reading helps children appreciate different viewpoints, cultures and experiences.

Kindness: Stories encourage empathy, helping pupils understand and care about the feelings of others.

Community: Shared reading experiences foster discussion, collaboration and a love of learning together.

Equality: Books introduce pupils to diverse people and perspectives, promoting inclusion and understanding.

Faith: Reading allows children to explore Gospel values, moral decision-making and the importance of compassion, hope and service.

By developing strong reading skills, our pupils gain the knowledge, confidence and understanding needed to become thoughtful, caring and responsible members of society.
